SatCam App

This project and corresponding app is no longer active.

SatCamAurora enables ground truth observations of the Northern Lights at the same time and location that an Earth observing satellite is passing overhead detecting the Aurora Borealis from above.

SatCamAurora observations submitted to our server will help us compare features on photographs submitted by citizen scientists with features revealed via the VIIRS Day/Night Band in satellite images, with location and timing coordinated by the App. In exchange for your picture, we will send you the satellite image from the same location, anywhere in the world! SatCamAurora supports the Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20 satellites.

SatCamAurora, was developed at the Space Science and Engineering Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
